Alexandre Defaux 1858 - Oil Painting 18x21-1/2"

The painting has many small cracks and a few longer ones but it's very well stuck to canvas, just missing at the edges.

 

 

Signed DEFAUX 1858 with yellow ochre paint color, difficult to see under 150+ years of patina.

Alexandre Defaux was a French artist. (1826--1900) and studied under Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. He was a member of the Barbizon School.

Art Auctions result ( from 153 auctions 2004-2015 ) for Defaux in 2004-2005 show 6 paintings sold for over $10,000.00 one at $39,000.00

There are cracks to be expected on unrestored piece of this age. + some missing paint on edges.

Also studio paint splatters from previous owner / artist being careless while using it for inspiration to do paintings like this -Click Here
